Healthcare jobs are not just meant for people suffering from any illness. Healthcare careers have expanded their horizons to many different treatments including cosmetic surgery, plastic surgery, hair implant, anti ageing treatments etc. If we look at the history of hair transplant it was first done in Japan in 1930s wherein large skin pieces known as punch grafts, were transplanted from behind the scalp to the bald area. The hair transplantation methods have evolved since then and the present day technology gives you a completely natural look. Miniaturisation method has made this possible. Single, tiny follicle grafts are implanted into the incisions which are made in the bald space. Dense packing of hair follicles is possible due to this which not only gives a natural but better than the original look.
Different methods of hair transplant surgery
Those wanting to take up healthcare jobs in the hair transplant field should know that there are two main methods for hair transplant. One is Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and the other being Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). The difference between these methods lies in how the harvesting of follicles is done. Out of the two, FUT is considered as the older method using strip harvesting. Here thin strips of skin are taken from the back of the head and are dissected into small grafts with the help of dissecting microscopes. These grafts are than implanted into the head area which is balding. The major advantage is that one gets up to 98% yield and just a linear scar at the back of the head. It is less expensive compared to the FUE and is used for large area which need transplant in a single session.
Strip Harvest Technique in Hair Transplant
This technique is very simple. Strips are taken from the donor site and harvested. These strips are thin and either a single large strip or many smaller strips are used. These strips are then divided into small grafts to be used for the implant. Hair transplant surgeries are increasing giving scope for more medical assistant jobs and healthcare jobs. With the increase in the number of new patients, the number of providers should also increase. Standards of surgery are rising and the quality has to be competitive as the prices fall. Strip harvesting technique will go places due to this. And maintaining a good personal physician/patient relationship will help.
